Set up a new workspace

This page is for the person setting up Ministry Toolkit for their church for the first time. If your church already uses it, you don't need this. Sign in instead.

Before you start

  • An invite code. Ministry Toolkit is invite only right now. Email info@ministrytoolkit.com to get one.
  • CCB API login (optional for now). You can connect CCB during setup or later. The CCB guide walks through creating the API user in CCB.

Create the workspace

Go to ministrytoolkit.com/get-started. There are five steps.

1. Account

Enter your Invite Code, Full Name, Email and a Password, then click Next.

Already have a Ministry Toolkit login from another church? Use that same email and your existing password.

2. Workspace

  • Church / Organization Name fills in your Workspace URL for you. Change it if you like. This becomes yourchurch.ministrytoolkit.com, so keep it short. A green check means it's available.
  • Time zone is filled in from your computer. Make sure it's your church's time zone. Every date, reminder and scheduled sync uses it.

3. Ministries

Tap the ministries your church has (Kids, Youth, Worship and so on) or click + Add custom ministry. You can skip this and add them later.

4. Database

Pick Church Community Builder and enter your CCB Subdomain, API Username and API Password. Or click Skip for now and connect it later in Workspace Settings.

Nothing is tested at this step. You'll test the connection once you're in.

5. Tools

Pick the tools you want and click Create Workspace. You'll see a "getting ready" screen for up to a couple of minutes while your web address is set up, then you're signed in.

If it says Almost there!, give it another minute and click Try again.

First-week checklist

Work through these once you're in. Everything is under your avatar (top right) > Workspace Settings.

  1. Check your time zone. Open Details and look at the clock next to Time zone. If the time is wrong, the zone is wrong. See Workspace details.
  2. Connect and test CCB. Open Integrations > Church Community Builder, fill in the fields and click Test Connection. See Connect CCB.
  3. Set up your ministries. See Ministries.
  4. Invite your team. See Users and roles.
  5. Set how emails look. Under Email, set the name families see and where replies go. Turn off Test mode when you're ready for real emails to go out. See Email settings.
  6. Turn on Auto-Sync so data stays fresh without anyone clicking Sync. See Syncing with CCB.
  7. Set up your first tool. Good places to start:
