Training
Build self-paced courses: short lessons with a video and a few questions. Volunteers take them from their onboarding link or in the Serve app.
Create a course
- Go to Volunteers > Training and click +.
- Click the pencil to add a description.
- Click Badge to pick the badge volunteers earn for finishing.
- When it's ready, click Draft to switch it to Published. Volunteers can't see drafts.
Delete course deletes it straight away, with no confirmation, along with everyone's progress and answers.
Add lessons
- Under Lessons, click +.
- Give the lesson a title and description.
- Paste the Embedded Video URL.
- Set How Long It Takes, or click Use video length.
Drag lessons to reorder them.
For volunteers taking training from their onboarding link, use a direct video file link (ending in .mp4). YouTube and Vimeo links play in the Serve app.
Add questions
Click Add question and pick a type:

Tick Required for questions they must answer. Nothing is graded; there are no right or wrong answers.
Use a course in onboarding
Add a Training course step to a workflow and pick the course. See Onboarding workflows. The step is marked done when they finish every lesson.
See who's done it
The People tab shows who's In progress, Not started and Completed, plus how far people get in each lesson. Click someone to read their answers.
For training someone did before you used Ministry Toolkit, open their volunteer record and click Add completed under Trainings.
Training in the Serve app
Turn on Trainings under App > Setup > Training. Published courses show under Me > Training for volunteers.
