Posts
Posts are announcements that show in the Posts tab of the Serve app. Add text, photos, polls, sign-up sheets and events, pick who sees it and optionally send a notification.
Go to Volunteers > App > Posts. Pick a ministry first.
Write a post
- Click New post. A draft is created and saves as you go.
- Type the title.
- Pick a Cover color, or Use a photo instead.
- Add blocks: drag them from the left, or click one. On a phone, tap + Add block.
- Click Preview to see it as volunteers will.
Blocks
- Words: Heading, Text, Quote, Callout, FAQ.
- Media: Image, GIF, Video (YouTube or Vimeo), Gallery.
- Layout:
- Section: a colored box. Under Who sees this section, you can show it only to some people, like "just the worship team".
- Divider.
- Interactive:
- Button: a link.
- Event: pick an event, or create one. Tick Ask for an RSVP to collect answers.
- Countdown.
- Poll: a question with options and an optional closing date.
- Spotlight: highlight a volunteer.
- Lesson: link a Groups lesson.
- Sign-up slots: spots people can claim, like "Bring snacks: 3 people".
- Location: an address with a map.
Polls and sign-ups with no closing date stop showing in volunteers' to-do lists three weeks after you post.
Publish
- Click Publish.
- When: Publish now, or Schedule for later.
- Who sees it:
- Everyone in the ministry.
- A saved audience (see below).
- Going to an event: people who said yes to an event.
- Or Pick services and areas instead.
- Options: Allow comments and Send a push notification.
- Click Publish.
The count shows how many people it will reach. Only people who've signed in to the Serve app count.
After publishing, changes aren't live until you click Update post. Updating doesn't send another notification.
Audiences
Save groups of people you post to often, like "Middle School Team".
- Go to Volunteers > Settings > Audiences and click + Add audience.
- Name it and tick the services, areas or positions it covers. Ticking a service includes everything under it.
- Click Add audience.
See who's read it
Click Seen X of Y on a published post (or Insights in the post):
- who's seen it and who hasn't
- reactions, poll results and sign-ups
- comments, with Delete for any that shouldn't be there
Click Remind N unread to send a notification to people who haven't opened it (once a day).
Pin to top keeps up to 3 posts at the top of the feed.
Share outside the app
With Public share links turned on under App > Setup > Posts, click Create public link to share a read-only copy with anyone. Sections for specific audiences are left out. Click Revoke to turn it off.
Delete a post
Click Delete post. It disappears from the app along with its comments, reactions and read receipts. There's no unpublish.
Celebration posts
Each week the app can make birthday, anniversary and welcome posts for each ministry. They're marked Automatic in the list. Turn them on or off under App > Setup > Celebrations.
